Notice from City of Edinburgh Council on imminent works to repair groynes on Portobello Beach, starting Mon 10 Jun:

“Works will comprise repairing the collapsed section of groyne No.4 and essential repairs to the remainder of the groynes 1-5. It is intended to tackle the gabion groyne, close to the Joppa end, as part of this project.

Contractor and Site Compound Location:

The contractor for the works is Covanburn Contracts Ltd. who will begin mobilising from Monday 10 June 2024.

The works compound will be sited on the wide part of the Promenade beside Groyne No.4, which will minimise disruption whilst moving machinery and materials.

Programme and Working Times:

Works are programmed to take place from Monday 17 June 2024 for 12 weeks. It is intended that works will take place Monday to Friday (typically between 7am and 7pm to maximise tidal working), with no works planned over weekends at this time.

For your safety, please keep your distance from large machinery, stay out of the construction zones and keep dogs on leads.
