UPDATE: The works have now been cancelled and will take place at some point later in the year. We will let you know as soon as we hear any further.

We have had the following communication from the Roads Department at City of Edinburgh Council. Please pass on and plan accordingly.

Sir Harry Lauder Road will be closed between its junction with Portobello High Street/Portobello Road and its junction with Baileyfield Road for five days from 7am on Monday 13 February 2023.
The closure is to allow for construction of a duct crossing, resurfacing, and application of anti-skid surfacing. The work is expected to take five days, inclement weather notwithstanding.

A diversion route will be in operation via (north to south) Portobello Road, Northfield Broadway, Milton Road West, and Milton Road.

The road is expected to reopen on the evening of Friday 17 February, however if there are any delays to the works, the closure will continue into Saturday 18 February.

UPDATE:

The pedestrian/cycle crossing at Fishwives Causeway will remain open, and will be delineated with safety barriers either side. The path of the crossing may vary by a few metres in either direction to accommodate the works, but it will remain open at all times.
