Pachamama Project – Meeting on Period Poverty

Posted on: November 12th, 2022

THE PACHAMAMA PROJECT

An open meeting will be held on Sunday November 20th at Portobello and Joppa Parish Church hall at 3 pm to which you are invited.

The meeting will address the issue of Period Poverty, particularly amongst refugees in various countries. The Pachamama Project is one organisation which is addressing this issue with volunteers sewing reusable period pads. Grateful recipients are gifted a drawstring bag containing 8 pads, 2 pairs of pants and soap, the latter two being provided by partner organisations in the receiving countries. The Pachamama Project was started by a University student in Bristol in 2020 after lockdown restrictions had prevented her from travelling to work in a refugee camp.

If you would like to help restore the dignity of women and teenage girls in desperate need, please come along to find out more, enjoy tea or coffee and perhaps volunteer to help, even in a small way. You may like to invite a friend to this meeting or tell a family member about it.
