Dear Community Council,

I am writing to let you know that the City of Edinburgh Council’s Education, Children and Families Committee agreed on 16 August 2019 that a statutory consultation should be undertaken to relocate Newcraighall Primary School. 

The consultation commences today, Monday 26 August 2019.  This consultation affects only Newcraighall Primary School as there are no catchment changes required.  

A letter has been sent to all parents and carers of pupils at Newcraighall Primary School providing them with details of the consultation and a link to the consultation paper.  We will also provide copies of the consultation paper to other community groups including the Community Council.

I have attached a copy of the full consultation paper and a summary paper.  The full statutory consultation paper and an online questionnaire are available at www.edinburgh.gov.uk/newcraighallschool.  We have also sent some paper copies of the full statutory consultation to the school.  Copies will also be available for inspection at Craigmillar Library. 

A public meeting will be held in respect of the proposal as outlined below:

During the consultation period, any views on this proposal should be sent in writing to the address below or by e-mail to newcraighallschool@edinburgh.gov.uk.  All views whether by letter, e-mail or using the online questionnaire should arrive by 5pm on Monday 7 October 2019.

Following the conclusion of the consultation period a report on the Outcomes of the Consultation will be presented to the Council in March 2020 and the report will be made publicly available three weeks before the Council meeting.
