Democracy Matters – have your say Saturday 10 November, 1pm – 5pm, Bellfield
The Scottish Government is giving communities all over the country the chance to decide their future and influence the way in which decisions about public services are made at a local level. Join us at Bellfield on Saturday afternoon for a community meeting to find out more about the initiative and talk about the kind of changes you want to see happen in Portobello.
To mark the centenary of Armistice Day, we are holding an commemorating the little-known role that Portobello played in the First World War.
From 2pm catch a performance by the Ladies Guerilla String Quartet as part of Play4Peace, a global event inviting musicians around the world to come together and play the same piece of music to mark Armistice Day 100. From 3pm, local historian Archie Foley will give a short talk on Portobello’s connections to the First World War.
Entry is free, and refreshments will be on sale, with all proceeds going to the War Memorials Trust.
Thank you for your support and we hope to see you at Bellfield soon.
