Stimulating artistic and cultural events across the length and breadth of the Capital is the drive behind a new £60,000 City of Edinburgh Council fund.
The one-off ‘Local Events Fund’ aims to inspire audiences and artists who might otherwise not have the chance to participate in cultural ventures to take up the artistic challenge.
Applications of between £2,500 and £10,000 can be made by community groups, arts/creative organisations and partnerships based in the four Council localities of the city (North East, North West, South east and South West) with each area receiving £15,000.
The fund is now open and applications need to be submitted by 15 December.
Councillor Donald Wilson, Culture and Communities Convener, said: “Edinburgh has a reputation as one of the most cultural cities in the world so I’m delighted that we have been able to provide this one-off £60,000 fund.
“There’s a misconception that our artistic and cultural heart is the city centre but that’s not the case as there are amazing artistic achievements taking place right across this great city.
“This fund will allow many community groups and artistic organisations from Queensferry to Portobello and Pilton to Gilmerton to access funds to put on their own artistic and cultural events.”
Only one application can be made per organisation and anyone interested should submit their application by 12 noon on 15 December 2017.

The guidelines and application form can also be found on the Edinburgh Neighbourhood Partnerships website.
