I’m a volunteer with a not-for-profit organisation called Toastmasters International which has a global track record of helping people boost their confidence by improving their public speaking, impromptu speaking and leadership skills.
They’re thinking about setting up a new club in Portobello. To that end, I’m organising a free demo meeting on Wednesday, 22 June 2016 from 19:15 to 21:30 (BST) at the Dalriada, 77 Promenade, Edinburgh, EH15 2EL
I wondered if I could gain your help to spread the word locally?
Toastmasters has over 90 year’s experience in helping people improve their prospects: regardless of their starting point, they all improve with Toastmasters. They now have more than 15,500 friendly, self-help training and practice clubs in 137 countries. That includes 18 clubs in Scotland: 4 in Edinburgh. Our Edinburgh clubs currently have professional trainers, non native English speakers, students and junior managers plus unemployed members.
As not for profit organisation membership rates are kept low to cover training materials and room hire. For an investment of around £100 a year we offer members two hours of supportive training and practice every fortnight, including their training materials, qualification certificates as appropriate, a mentor, plus support from the committee, evaluations from more experienced members and a monthly magazine.
