Portobello Community Council is supporting the Portobello collection for CalAid Edinburgh.

Donations can be dropped off at Portobello Town Hall on Saturday 12th of September (11am – 2pm) and will be taken to Calais and distributed amongst the people there who have fled violence and are currently living in a camp known as “the Jungle”.

The main things that are needed are:

• Tents: (Even incomplete), Covers, Tarpaulin
• Travelling Bags
• Candles, torches, etc
• Blankets, sleeping bags
• Pots and Pans
• Shoes: Trainers or hiking shoes (only the most common sizes 41 to 43)
• Jackets: Only small and medium sized
• Tracksuit Trousers or Jeans: Size 28 to 32
• Pants
• Socks
• Belts
• Wooly hats
• Toothbrushes, Toothpaste, Shampoo, Soap

Sorry, the following items are NOT Needed:

• Womens or Childrens Clothes or shoes
• Sheets
• Pillows
• Suits
• Town shoes
• Jumpers
• Wellington Boots

Also, think about attaching notes, cards or letters to your donations, messages of hope and acceptance, reminders that there are people who care! Think of what many of these people are going through, and what comfort kind words and gestures can bring.
