City of Edinburgh Council is undertaking a city-wide exercise to replace obsolete lanterns, reduce energy consumption and mitigate rises in energy costs and carbon footprint meaning a switch away from the traditional orange lamps to a new white light.

The street lighting section has been installing new white light bulbs in some streets in and around Portobello.
