P&C – Families, Children & Young People’s sub group – Wednesday 26 November at 10.30 am in Forth Sector, Duddingston Yards.

P&C Housing and Regeneration – Tuesday 2 December 2014 at 10.30 am in the White House, 70 Niddrie Mains Road.

P&C Community Safety sub group – Wednesday 14 January 2015 at 2.00 pm , at the East Neighbourhood Centre, 101 Niddrie Mains Road.

P&C Area Board – Wednesday 3 March 2015 at 5.30 pm in the East Neighbourhood Office, 101 Niddrie Mains Road

P&C Environment Forum – Wednesday 3 December 2014 at 6.30 pm in the East Neighbourhood Office, 101 Niddrie Mains Road.

Community Councils

Craigmillar Community Council – The next meeting is on Tuesday  9 December 2014 at 7pm in the Hays Business Centre, 4 Hay Avenue. You can come along as a member of the public and voice your opinions or get more involved and become a community council member.

Portobello Community Council – The next meeting of Portobello Community Council will take place on Monday 24 November  2014 at 7:30 pm in Portobello Baptist Church Hall, 185 Portobello High Street. Meetings are open to the public and all are welcome.

Craigmillar Hearts Community Club

It was a pleasure to attend the Opening night of the new Craigmillar Hearts Community Club in August.

The club has its foundations back as far as 1947 and in 2005 a fire destroyed the club rooms after an electrical fault.  It took almost 9 years but the Club is now back in Craigmillar at new premises on Craigmillar Castle Avenue and the great news is that membership was very quickly at capacity.

Castleview Primary School – Craigmillar Castle Tour Guides

I have previously been invited to, and very much enjoyed, tours of Craigmillar Castle with P7’s from Castleview Primary School as tour guides.  This time I was joined by my fellow councillors Catherine Fullerton, Elaine Aitken and David Walker.  It was a lovely morning and the children did a great job sharing their knowledge of the castle and the local area.  I’m sure their Head Teacher Lindsay Watt is very proud of everybody who was involved.

New Portobello High School

I was delighted to be invited along to the sod cutting ceremony for the new Portobello High School on October 22, the children were really happy to be involved in breaking the ground for their new school.

Craigmillar and Portobello Libraries
